Seasonal Allergies
|
|
I just joined the group and thought I'd start a post on seasonal allergies. My seasonal allergies started in high school and they would really knock me for a loop every late spring through early fall. I check out the Weather Channel on line all the time and noticed they have different pollen levels for different things (grass, tree, etc.) and I thought I'd try to figure out what gave me the most problems. So far I haven't been able to figure it out as it seems like even one everything is low I have cruddy days. Short of going to the Dr for an allergy test, does anyone have any ideas to figure out what may be bothering me?
Thanks,
George

You probably would have to go to the doctor for tests to know for sure. Since you have such a long period of issues, you most likely have multiple pollen allergies. Grass pollen starts first in the spring until about June, tree pollen starts by the end of May generally. Of course, fall brings ragweed among other things. I'm lucky enough to be allergic to them all...lol. Do you take anything for your symptoms? I'd highly recommend starting Claritin or Zyrtec. You don't have to take meds during the winter when you don't seem to have problems.

You might try keeping detailed notes of your symptoms, the daily conditions, where you were (outside, inside, in the country, in a garden, etc). This might help you to notice a pattern. Say if you always get allergies on a day you spend outside gardening, then flower pollen might be the culprit.
