Know Your Meds

Description:
From undocumented side effects to off-label uses, it's more important than ever for you to research the medications you take -- rather than assuming anything approved by the FDA is safe. It's NOT. Take the FDA as a reference point — one reference point. But also listen to your doctor and to concerned consumers who have been through what you’re going through.

Human testing of artificial blood

A new report just released is criticizing the FDA's judgment for allowing human testing of artificial blood after knowing that it greatly increased the risk of heart attacks and death.

Researchers found that overall patients given blood substitutes faced a 30 percent greater risk of death and a 171 percent increased risk of heart attack compared to those who received conventional treatment.

Do you think that the FDA should be reprimanded or were these risks necessary to further the advancement of science.

I think the FDA should have taken a little more caution before testing on humans. But then again, they approve drugs everyday that end up getting recalled because they kill too many people, so its no big deal to them.
