Futhermore, the F.D.A. is intentionally short staffed and therefore lacks the ability to monitor and regulate the pharmaceutical industry. So the autonomy of this industry is therefore fueled by desire for individual profits. Because so many health care providers and citizens are unaware of this, damage can occur.
