Dying people do not have the right to obtain unapproved drugs that are potentially lifesaving, even if their doctors say the treatment offers the best hope for survival, a U.S. appeals court in Washington ruled Tuesday. In an 8-2 decision, the court said federal drug regulators are entrusted by law with deciding when new drugs are safe for wide use.
Food and Drug Administration approval of drugs generally requires testing that can involve years of trials and thousands of patients. The families of terminally ill patients, several of whom died after they were denied promising drugs still being tested, filed the lawsuit. They said dying patients were far more willing to take risks and should not be forced to wait for new treatments to win final FDA OK.
Why not let people who are terminally ill use potentially life saving drugs — what’s the worst that could happen? They have nothing to lose and everything to gain.
This makes no sense. Ironically, several of the FDA-approved drugs actually are unsafe and causes effects similar to illegal drugs.
I was once forced against my will to take an antidepressant. At the time, I was a totally physically healthy adult around 30 years old. I had also taken much better care of my health than other adults had. I also had never drank alcohol, never smoked, and never had taken illegal drugs. I also was completely harmless.
However, I developed horrible reactions to the antidepressant.
The antidepressant caused me to have a rapid heartbeat. One day, my heartrate shot up dangerously high, which resulted in immediate medical treatment. The drug also caused me to have frequent dizzy spells.
I normally was a calm, easy-going person with alot of self-control. However, the antidepressant took all of that calmness out of me. The drug made me impatient and irritable all the time. I cannot even begin to imagine what that would cause a teenager with a lower degree of self-control to do.
It comes as no surprise to me that half of the shooters in those famous school shootings were on antidepressant drugs as the time of shooting.
Also, the antidepressant caused me to literally feel sudden jolts of power surges going through my brain and through my body. These power surges made me aggressive.
The drug also caused me to have problems sleeping, despite the fact that I was taking sleeping pills.
Eventually the pressure in my head became so intense that I couldn’t bear it no longer.
It comes as no surprise to me that some people commit suicide while taking these drugs, necessitating a black box warning on these drugs.
By the way, I had never misused the antidepressant drug in any kind of way. I did everything right. I wasn’t taking any interacting medicines, etc.
Even cutting out all chocolate still didn’t help much. (I hadn’t had any any other caffeine products in years (such as coffee, teas, cokes, energy drinks, etc.)
So the antidepressant alone caused these reactions.
This is the truth folks —- Almost any drug that a psychiatrist recommends will be approved by the FDA, no matter how dangerous the effects can be on one’s behavior and on one’s physical health. However, if a medical doctor recommends a drug that has similar effects, the FDA will not approve it.
