Prescription drugs and pharmaceutical companiesAdweek has a special report on public perceptions of the pharmaceutical industry, which says consumers dislike Big Pharma even though they like prescription drugs.

Unfortunately, the article frames the problem as one that Big Pharma could solve with more PR and advertising, which I guess you should expect from a publication like Adweek, but which is probably the last thing pharma needs to do. That’s putting lipstick on a pig, as they say here in Texas.

What needs to happen is the FDA needs to ban pharmaceutical ads for consumers, which drive up drug prices and don’t work anyway. Nonetheless, the Adweek piece contains some good data if you want to check it out.
