Additional Comments: The moment that Ortho Evra patch came available I rushed off to the Doctor to get a prescription. It was easy to use, once a week application and just as effective as any birth control pill. There were no usual side effects such as weight gain, or nausea. Like other contraceptives, ortho evra should not be used by women who smoke, blood clots, cancer or pregnant women. It is important to realise that this will not protect against STDs and HIV. I prefer to use the patch during the winter, in the summer it easily falls off if I go swimming, or get wet (although the package says it will not). In the summer, I switch to the birth control pill.
