Reason for taking Glucotrol xl (glipizide)(sulfonylurea class):  diabetes

Additional Comments:   for some who are not turning into type I and have first been diagnosed as Type II, it worls well by triggering teh body to excrete more insulin. The window that it works well is about two years. The key to knowing when it stops working is when teh doseage has to be increased to see significant control. Once the drug needs ot be increased and add ed with other oral antidiabtics the body has begun to loose its ability to produce insulin. Beta Cell failure. But for two or three years it can woirk well, especially when combined with exercise and better low carb diet. I was on it when I was first Dxd and like dthat pill theory. When it began to not work as well as it did, I chose Insulin and agresisve therapy.

Reason for taking Glucotrol xl (glipizide)(sulfonylurea class):  To Control Diabetes

Additional Comments:  My doctor prescribed Glucotrol XL because of the extended-release formula. I had previously been on Glucotrol regular release but was having problems controlling hypoglycemic episodes. I eventually had to discontinue it due to uncontrollable dips in my blood sugar levels.
