Reason for taking Benadryl:  To reduce allergic swelling

Additional Comments:  I have taken Benadryl many times for insect bites that cause swelling such as those from scorpions, bees, and wasps. I am very allergic to bee stings and begin swelling almost immediately after being stung. Once taken, the relief is immediate. I have also used it when deep sea fishing to prevent motion sickness. The only side effect that I have experienced is drowsiness. However they now have non-drowsy dosages which I would highly recommend, especially if you want to be awake the rest of the day. Although I have only experienced drowsiness, I read that some other side effects are motor impairment, dry mouth and throat, flushed skin, rapid or irregular heartbeat, and blurred vision.

Additional Comments:  Pill form takes a while to take effect. Liquid benadryl is much better for severe allergic reactions to things like hives, shellfish, weezing, bug bites, etc.

Additional Comments:  We have even used this under vet recommendation on some of the animals in our animal rescue who suffer severe allergies and it has been a godsend for us

Additional Comments:  I have taken benedryl since I was a small child for seasonal and pet allergies. It was a regular thing as a child, not so much now as an adult. It works really well, but it also knocks me out. I cannot take it if I have anything to do in the next several hours. It is more effective at making me sleep than sleeping pills are.

Additional Comments:  Benedryl is good for seasonal allergies as well as insect bites and stings. Because it works quickly I usually take it in the evening before going to bed.

Additional Comments:  My son was stung close to the eye and the swelling was fast and very worrisome. The Benadryl worked very quickly at bringing the reaction under control. I'm happy we had the stuff in the house. Because several members of the family have allergies we keep a bottle of it on hand for those kind of emergencies.

Additional Comments:  Accidentally ate something with some kind of nut extract. While my allergic reaction is not life threatening it can be quite severe. I can think of nothing else that will bring me relief more rapidly than the liquid form.
