What is Alinia used for?
Alinia is used to treat diarrhea caused by the parasites Cryptosporidium parvum and Giardia lambia. The suspension is indicated for patients 1 year of age and older. The tablets are indicated for patients 12 years of age and older. Safety and effectiveness of Alinia is not known in patient with human immunodeficiency virus (HIV), patients with immune problems, or children less than 1.
